WELCOME TO CHEMISTRY!

Welcome to 11th Grade Chemistry. Students will be given instruction in fundamental principles of Chemistry that will enhance the knowledge gained in previous science coursework and prepare them for the future. They will participate in various lab activities and will hone their skills in writing lab reports.

If you do not understand the material, ASK QUESTIONS. I will be available Before/after school and during breaks/lunch by request.

To all Parents: If you have an questions about your child's progress, behaviour or work missed,

SCIENCE FAIR: April 10 & 11, 2008
- 4 members per group
- must be a Scientific Investigation (Prove something)
- Will include FULL write up as well as model and poster board

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
For the Lab, you MUST include
- Purpose
- Materials
- Methods
- Observations #1 Acids and Bases
What do each of the indicators do with an acid and a base?
- Observations #2 Acid or Base?
You tested 7 liquids. What happened when you added the 3 indicators to them?
- Results/Discussion #1
What are each of the indicators used for? how can you use them in order to tell if a substances is an acid or a base? How does an indicator work chemically?
- Resultes/Discussion #2
What are each of them? how do you know? Research the actual pH to tell if you were correct. If you were incorrect, hypothesize why. If you were correct, what could you do better next time?
